When it comes to fostering and encouraging creativity, one of the best things that you can do is take up hobbies that require you to be engaged and imaginative. Too often, we lose our creative side the further we get in to adulthood, but if you can take up a few fun activities and develop a few intriguing interests, you can keep flexing that muscle to good effect! Here are some fun hobbies you can do that will challenge your creativity.
Cooking
Cooking is a great hobby to take up, because you can start off by following recipes, and then when you have developed an eye and taste for ingredients and flavours, you can set about unleashing your creativity by inventing dishes of your own!
Painting
You don’t have to be ‘good’ to be a painter! Pick up a few canvases and simply put brush to the blank and see what happens. Your subconscious creativity will come out in no time and you might be pleasantly surprised with what you produce.
Writing
Creative writing does just what it says on the tin; it promotes creativity! Start by keeping a journal to write down your thoughts and feelings every day, and then when you feel comfortable putting pen to paper, you can try to be more adventurous by writing about things from your imagination rather than things from your real life. Or perhaps, like many writers, a combination of both!
Knitting
Knitting isn’t just for old ladies these days, in fact, it is one of the trendiest hobbies to take up! Just like cooking, you start off learning the basics and then when you are comfortable you can let your imagination run wild with your creations. It is one of the most therapeutic things you can do on a cosy Sunday afternoon.
